Fujitsu Introduces Enhanced High-Speed, Duplex Departmental Scanner

New Software Upgrades, Faster Speeds and Improved Image Processing Highlight the Additions to the fi-5530C2 Departmental Scanner

Sunnyvale, CA, September 5, 2007 —  Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today introduced the Fujitsu fi-5530C2 scanner – one of the fastest and smallest footprint (11.5” x 16” x 9”) landscape departmental scanners on the market. The new Fujitsu fi-5530C2 contains new software upgrades and improved image processing, along with faster speeds than its predecessor – the fi-5530C, providing users with even more document imaging features and functionality.

The Fujitsu fi-5530C2 high-speed, duplex color scanner comes equipped with Kofax® VirtualReScan® (VRS) 4.1 Basic, Adobe® Acrobat® 8 Standard, and ScandAll Pro for improved document imaging processing and productivity, along with quick and easy integration into existing workflows.

The advanced capabilities of VRS have lead the technology to be named a de facto standard in the high-speed scanner market by IDC, the world's leading technology research company. VRS enables high accuracy in data captured from scanned documents, significantly reducing the need to manually correct the results of intelligent character recognition (ICR) and optical character recognition (OCR). As documents pass through a scanner, VRS performs a multi-point inspection of each image. Any inconsistencies are immediately corrected by VRS so that only the straightest, most readable images are processed.

Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard enables users to reliably create, share and control authentic Adobe PDF documents for easy, more secure distribution. Users have access to valuable features and functionality incorporated into Acrobat 8 Standard, including an intuitive user interface and enhanced speed and performance, the ability to convert Microsoft® Office application files to PDF with one button click, and increased file security with password protection and list of trusted certificates to help prevent unauthorized users from opening and viewing sensitive documents.

“Businesses across all markets, including the banking, education, energy, financial, government, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing industries are continuously challenged to maintain efficiency in workflow processes, while requiring fewer resources to manage these tasks,” said Victor Kan, vice president of sales and marketing, Imaging Products Group, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. “Fujitsu is very mindful of these growing and changing needs and is constantly expanding the feature set in its scanning solutions to provide our customers with the most innovative products on the market.”

The new Fujitsu fi-5530C2 scanner continues the Fujitsu legacy of offering decentralized, high quality image capture to the desktop at a highly competitive price. The Fujitsu fi-5530C2 boasts speeds of up to 50 ppm / 100 ipm (landscape, 200dpi) so that it can quickly and efficiently transform paper documents into manageable digital files. The scanner also offers true 600dpi optical resolution, duty cycle of up to 5,000 documents per day, a 100-page automatic document feeder (ADF), and dual-CCD scanning arrays to consistently capture fine details in color and monochrome.

To further separate this innovative scanner from the competition, the Fujitsu fi-5530C2 offers ultrasonic double-feed detection, selectable black and white background, auto de-skew, auto-cropping, page counter, RGB color dropout, long/odd sized document scanning (2.1” x 2.9” to 8.5” x 34”) and hard card scanning capabilities. It is also one of the smallest A3 departmental scanner on the market with a footprint of only 11.5” x 16” x 9”. The scanner supports TWAIN and ISIS drivers and includes Ultra SCSI and Hi-speed USB 2.0 interface options.
